President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino
III is set to open the longest bridge in Cagayan Valley, at 1.75
kilometers tomorrow in this city.
Department of Public Works and
Highways Rogelio Singson said the 14 span Lullutan Bridge will be one of
the most vital bridges in the region to boost ease of travel and exchange
of goods and commerce, particularly the agriculture sector.
According to sources at the DPWH
regional office in Tuguegarao City, the President is expected to unveil the
marker and will lead the inaugural drive-through before he will meet the
Isabelinos, particularly residents and officials of this city and nearby
municipalities in a program after the activity.
Completed ahead of schedule on
December 23, 2014 as against its target construction for January 21, 2015 with
a cost of Ph772 million, the bridge is located at the western part of the city
and traverses the Pinacanauan de Ilagan, a tributary of the Cagayan
river.
There was no report as to whether
the President will have a separate dialogue with any sector in the province.
“Our government believes that
agricultural growth is an important component for poverty reduction, thus, we
are pushing for timely completion of these kinds of projects,” Singson said.
