SM Supermalls back Earth Day

Cauayan City, Isabela – SM Supermalls across the Philippines through the SM Cares Environment Committee joined the entire nation in celebrating Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22, 2015.

The Earth Day celebration in SM City Cauayan highlights an environmental exhibit by the CENRO Cauayan City which showcases artistic and quality crafted recycled products. Dubbed as WOW (Wealth on Waste) CAUAYAN, it shows to the public that each waste can be converted into wealth by making it into a new product like, newspapers turned into vases and home decors, tetra packs turned into bags and pouches.  

CENRO Cauayan headed by Engr. Alejo Lamsen also gave an orientation about proper waste management to the mall personnel and tenants. They also gave a livelihood workshop out of waste to the senior citizens of Cauayan City.

Like with other SM Malls, SM City Cauayan also highlighted the Trash to Cash wherein the recyclables where exchanged to cash. The Trash to Cash aims to encourage people to protect and respect Mother Earth through recycling and proper waste management.

Free eco-bags were also given to the participants of Trash to Cash.

The main objective of celebrating Earth Day is to introduce innovative and new ideas and solutions to protect our planet and to inculcate all the methods for the protection of Mother Earth. In support to the objective of Earth Day Network, all SM Supermalls yearly make sure to have a relevant and impactful mall wide celebration of Earth Day.
